MyComputer.com Unveils New Tools to Allow SuperStats Users to Understand the "Why" Behind Changing Web Site Traffic Patterns

OREM, Utah (May 8, 2001) — MyComputer.com has now made it easier than ever for webmasters and technology professionals to understand "why" the performance of a Web site is changing and not just how.

The leading application service provider of Web analytics, MyComputer.com today unveiled six new Web site performance tools for users of its SuperStats Web analytics product that for the first time allow Web site managers to correlate visitor traffic patterns with server limitations.

The new enhancements to SuperStats also give webmasters the tools to measure the performance of existing capital investments and determine whether to increase the number of servers to maintain Web site performance comparable with those of the top 50 Internet industry leaders.

"By providing a comprehensive look at the impact of load time in relation to page views, SuperStats now provides Web managers with an understanding of site performance unmatched by any other Web analytics tool," said Josh James, chief executive officer of MyComputer.com. "The new reports precisely detail server limitations on site traffic and allow businesses to take immediate action to ensure that valuable customers maintain access to company Web sites from anywhere in the world."

The six new SuperStats Web site performance features specifically analyze the following:

  • Load time: Displays the time (in seconds) that it takes for a Web page to load, averaged from five locations around the globe.
  • Load time vs. Page views: Correlates the load time of a Web site to the traffic it receives.
  • Industry comparison: Benchmarks the load time of a Web site against top industry Web sites.
  • Uptime percentage: Displays the percentage of time a Web site responds to requests from five locations around the globe during the course of a month.
  • Uptime by hour: Shows each hour during the day and if the site responded to all requests from all locations or some fraction thereof.
  • Location comparison: Compares the performance and uptime of a Web site across five locations around the globe.

To gather data for the Web site performance reports, MyComputer.com's SuperStats servers monitor the status of its customers' Web sites from five cities around the globe. Each monitoring station loads a specific Web site separately to provide region-specific uptime and load time analysis. This distributed model helps to ensure that Web site managers garner an accurate picture of site availability and load time and don't receive false information if, for example, only a regional portion of the Internet experiences problems.

SuperStats Web site performance reports are available immediately to customers online at the MyComputer.com Web site at www.mycomputer.com. For a demo, users can visit http://v2.superstats.com/demo_premium.html.
