Media General Selects Omniture's SiteCatalyst™ to Provide Accurate, Real-Time, Actionable Analytics

OREM, Utah - October 7, 2002 Omniture, the leader in providing adaptable, next-generation web analytics to large, complex Websites, announced today that Media General, Inc. has selected SiteCatalyst™ to provide accurate, real-time, actionable analytics to help them better understand their online consumers.

The selection of SiteCatalyst was due in large part to real-time reporting, the product's ability to track multiple accounts and ease of implementation. According to a recent study by Meta Group, "Virtually all Global 2000 organizations have low-end Web analytic solutions, and most are unhappy with the limited information these tools provide. Organizations adding improvements to their Web analytics solutions are running into numerous difficulties, such as data volume, data management, and reporting accuracy."

Media General was one such organization. Unsatisfied with the lack of real-time statistics, inability to track third party content and problems with matching log files from different servers, they set out to make a change. Now, the company has upgraded their web analytics solution to Omniture's SiteCatalyst and is able to immediately capture data relating to their online visitor activity.

The functionality found within SiteCatalyst has made it possible for Media General to easily aggregate the immense amount of data generated by their numerous publishing and broadcasting sites. This information is then available for complex analysis through real-time reporting as well as reporting on historic site data. These reports enable advertising agents to track online usage of the site and editorial staff to track the effectiveness of different stories and online publications. As a result, both groups are better equipped to make decisions which significantly impact the success of their business and improve ROI.

"Now, more than ever before, companies are better equipped to immediately get the information they need to make informed, timely business decisions" said Josh James, chief executive officer of Omniture. "Through our extensive real-time reporting and data warehousing capabilities, our customers are breaking through the limitations of historic analytics tools. SiteCatalyst can answer all of the questions they have about their site, and 99% of these answers are available in seconds. Media General is an example of the caliber of clients who are realizing the benefits SiteCatalyst has to offer."
